Consultation Details

If you're nervous about this conversation, you're not alone. It usually feels scary to open up to a stranger about struggles you rarely tell anyone about. I find it helpful to know a bit about what to expect, and I'm guessing you'd appreciate it too. To that end, here's a general outline of what you can expect us to cover during our first brief video call:

Your Story

During your consultation, I will ask you to tell me what’s been going on in your life to bring you to therapy.

Specifics About Treatment

Once I know a little more about what you’ve been going through and what your goals might be, I’ll describe what I think treatment will look like for you.

Rule-outs and Logistics

Then I'll ask a few questions to find out if any obstacles might get in the way of our ability to do great work together. In some cases, clients may need to take some other steps before it makes sense for us to work together. These cases might include, for example, waiting until a time when other demands have died down enough to make room for you to do homework and attend sessions regularly.

Questions for Me

Once you’ve heard more about the process, you’ll have a chance to ask me anything you might want to know about me or my practice that would help you decide if we'd be a good fit.

“Never give up your right to be wrong, because then you will lose the ability to learn new things and move forward with your life. Remember that fear always lurks behind perfectionism.”
